Won Jong (b. 2003) is a South Korean composer whose work reflects an attentiveness to the formal construction of pieces as well as processes and trajectories that create compositional constraints. His music often draws inspiration from literature, architecture, and the visual arts.
Jong’s works have been performed in North America, Europe, and Asia in venues such as Konzertsaal FAL — Universitaẗ fur̈ Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, Gallery Marron, St. Paul’s Chapel — Columbia University, and Kukje Art Hall. In addition to having worked with musicians and ensembles such as Ekmeles, Irvine Arditti, and ensemble PHACE, Jong further extends his line of work to interdisciplinary collaborations with artists and choreographers such as Jisoo Koo, Jean Jang, and Rob Shuttleworth.
Jong is currently studying composition under Samuel Andreyev, and following his move from Seoul to New York City in 2022, Jong is pursuing a B.A. in music at Columbia University. Here, he has been mentored thus far by Marcos Balter and Finola Merivale.

2003년 서울에서 출생한 작곡가 정원의 작품은, 구성적인 요소와 더불어 창조적 제약을 만드는 과정과 궤적(軌跡)에 대한 그의 깊은 사색을 반영하고 있다. 그는 문학을 비롯해 건축, 시각 예술 등 다양한 분야에서 영감을 받는다.
그의 작품은 빈 국립음악예술대학교의 퓨처아트랩 콘서트홀, 갤러리 마롱, 컬럼비아 대학교의 세인트폴 채플, 국제아트홀 등 北美, 歐洲, 아시아 지역에서 연주되었고, 그는 뉴욕의 에크멜레스 앙상블, 빈의 앙상블 페이스 등의 음악가들을 비롯해 구지수 작가와 英 작가 롭 셔틀워스 등 다양한 아티스트들과의 위촉ㆍ연주 작업을 이어가고 있다.
그는 작곡가 사무엘 안드레이에프에게 사사하였으며 현재 美 컬럼비아 대학교에서 마르코스 발터 교수와 피놀라 메리베일 교수의 지도하에 음악 전공 학사 과정을 진행 중이다.
그의 작품은 뉴욕 계미사에서 독점 출판하고 있다.
